October 2026 Release Notes
Knackly Release Notes — October 2026
Smarter Validation, Better Visibility, and a More Reliable Designer
This October, we're introducing improvements designed to make building and maintaining your document automation systems easier, safer, and more efficient.
From identifying issues in your automation logic to understanding where variables are used, these updates give you greater visibility and control over your Knackly workspace.
1. New Dependency Analysis and Issue Detection
Finding and resolving issues in complex automation systems just got easier.
Knackly's new dependency analysis functionality helps identify potential problems in your automation logic and makes it easier to locate and correct them.
What's New:
- Automatic Validation: Knackly checks saved changes for potential issues in your automation logic.
- Issues Panel: View identified issues in one centralized location within Designer.
- Direct Navigation: Click an issue to navigate directly to the affected field.
- Model Filtering: Filter issues by model to focus on specific areas of your automation.
- Contextual Information: See more details about where an issue occurs, helping you troubleshoot faster.
These improvements are especially valuable for workspaces with complex conditional logic, multiple documents, and reusable objects.
2. New Element Usage Report
Ever wondered where a particular variable or object is being used?
The new Element Usage functionality gives you greater visibility into how elements are connected throughout your workspace.
What's New:
- Identify where elements are referenced by other elements.
- See which applications can reach or use particular elements.
- Filter results by model or element type.
- Navigate directly to elements from the report.
- Export usage information to CSV for additional analysis.
This feature helps you understand dependencies before making changes, reducing the risk of unintentionally affecting other parts of your automation.
Note: Element deletion from this report is not currently available.
3. Safer Saving and Importing
We've improved how Knackly handles saving changes and importing workspace elements to better protect your work.
Improvements Include:
- Draft Recovery: Better protection for unsaved work when saving is interrupted.
- Conflict Review: Improved handling when multiple changes may affect the same elements.
- Replace All Elements: A new import option for replacing workspace elements, with an option to create a workspace ZIP backup.
- Import Feedback: Clearer information when an import encounters errors or only partially completes.
- Consistent Exports: Designer and Workspace Manager now use the same improved export process.
These changes are designed to make managing larger automation systems more reliable.
4. Additional Fixes and Improvements
We've also addressed several issues to improve the reliability of Knackly.
- Document Preview: Improved handling to prevent document previews from overwriting newer answers.
- Template Imports: Fixed an issue where failed imports could result in the loss of existing template files.
- Variable Management: Improved safeguards when moving variables between models.
- Session Management: Addressed an issue that could interfere with session renewal.
- PDF Mapping: Improved preservation of multiline formatting when editing mappings.
- File Downloads: Fixed issues affecting downloads and previews of files containing certain international characters.
- Integrations: Addressed issues affecting ActionStep integration behavior.
Coming Soon
We're continuing to invest in making Knackly more powerful and easier to use.
Some of the improvements we're working toward include a significant user interface update, additional publishing improvements, broader availability of tabbed editing, and expanded AI-assisted automation capabilities.
Our goal remains the same: to make even the most complex document automation systems easier to build, manage, and maintain.
